We’d like to introduce you to Dan, the founder of Espanola Coffee Roasters! Dan has always loved great coffee. Since he was unable to find freshly roasted, high quality coffee in his immediate area, he began to roast for himself and his family.

After 6 or 7 years of roasting coffee in his basement, Dan decided to buy a bigger roaster (1 kilo) and try his hand at selling his coffee at the Espanola Farmers’ Market. The response was incredible, and this motivated him to keep going; in July 2016, he decided to start a business that was focussed on making high quality coffee accessible, while keeping the whole supply chain in mind. He’s now expanded and has a larger space in Espanola to house his new roaster (10 kilos!) and carries a variety of beans and blends.

The Island Jar House Blend

At The Island Jar, we carry a special collab with Espanola Coffee Roasters, The Island Jar House Blend (a medium-dark roast that’s an easy drinking coffee, with hints of dark chocolate and caramel). We also just introduced a Decaf Island Jar House Blend – both are Organic and Fair Trade Certified.

Check out this blog post for more info on how Dan ensures his coffee is fair for everyone in the supply chain and why this is so important in the industry. Dan loves sharing information and educating people about coffee – stay tuned for some exciting events we’re planning to host together to share some of his knowledge & spread the love of good coffee!
