As proud members of the Canadian Health Food Association, we attended their annual CHFA East trade show event on September 15th and 16th to learn about all the new health food trends and products in Canada. After visiting with, and sampling from, as many exhibitors as we could (there were over 1,000 of them on the showroom floor!) here are some of the many new products we’ve decided to bring in to The Island Jar for our customers:
Nova Scotia Fisherman

Founded by Les Falconer and his uncle Perley Beairsto, Nova Scotia Fisherman makes a full line of natural skin care & body care products in (you guessed it!) Nova Scotia, Canada. There are no added preservatives, artificial colours, artificial fragrances, and no animal testing used in any of their products. All of their skin care products are infused with powerful Atlantic Sea Kelp (check out the benefits of sea kelp here), harvested locally from one of the richest marine ecosystems on Earth, The Bay of Fundy.
Weleda

Even though we already had the Sea Buckthorn Replenishing Body Lotion in stock, once we tried the rest of Weleda’s line we couldn’t help ourselves and have brought in more lotions and body washes by this certified natural (by NATRUE) personal care brand. Instead of using synthetic compounds or toxic chemicals in their products, Weleda uses flower, fruit and root extracts, minerals and essential oils – each one carefully selected and orchestrated to work with your body’s own systems.
Desert Essence – Oil Pulling Rinse

With origins rooted in India, oil pulling helps to reduce build up, remove impurities, and thoroughly cleanses the mouth for overall improved health. Combining their highest quality, organic, non-GMO oils into a unique signature blend, Desert Essence’s Oil Pulling Rinse works in two phases: first, a layer or organic virgin coconut, sesame, and sunflower oils helps remove impurities and then a layer of Australian tea tree, wintergreen, and spearmint oils freshens the mouth.
Endangered Species Chocolate – Dark Chocolate with Peppermint Crunch

With a mission to give back and help wildlife thrive, Endangered Species Chocolate provides 10% of their net profit to their GiveBack Partners, each Partner with a minimum annual donation guarantee of $10,000. As for their Dark Chocolate with Peppermint Crunch flavour, here’s a description directly from their website:
“First we elevate our rich dark chocolate by adding a refreshing burst of peppermint flavor throughout. Then we mix in a generous amount of cocoa nibs to give this bar an oh-so-satisfying crunch!”
Yum!
These are only some of the new products we’ve brought in, so come on in to the Jar to check out the others!
